Taylor Swift

As someone who loves literature and wordplay, Taylor Swift's songs really hit a sweet spot. She has a unique gift to make the particular feel universal: songs like "peace" (from folklore) are about the challenges of dating and living as one of the most famous people in the world, but could just as easily be about being in a relationship while struggling with mental illness: "I'd give you my sunshine, give you my best/But the rain is always gonna come if you're standing with me."

Other songs of hers fall under the category of what the kids these days call "bops": it's impossible not to listen to "Style," "You Belong with Me," or "London Boy" and not feel a little bit of joy creep back into your life.

If you ever need a confidence boost on your way to work or school, I highly recommend figuring out where to start playing "...Ready for It?" so that the song ends right as you step through the doors—there's nothing quite like it.
